We provide QCF level 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care:
Who is this award for?.
This is a new qualification developed for individuals who are working in, or intend to work in the Health & Social Care Sector in Wales.
How long will it take?
The programme is delivered over a period of 16 months
What does it involve?
The Health & Social Care qualification is split into 2 sections – CORE and PRACTICE
Core – Provides a thorough introduction to the principles, Values and Knowledge needed to work in the Health & Care Sector
Practice – Enables you to demonstrate the knowledge, behaviour and skills needed to practice in the Health & Social Care Sector
The programme is delivered in your workplace via a dedicated assessor who will meet with you on a face-to-face basis at least once a month to provide you with individualised support, including all teaching, training, assessment and review of your progress with you and your manager.
What will I get at the end of the programme?
On successful completion of the programme you will receive two separate qualifications:
Level 2 Certificate in Health & Social Care: Core
Level 2 Certificate in Health & Social Care: Practice

- Contributing to the care and support of individuals living at home
- Providing care and support for individuals living in a care home setting
- Contributing to the support of individuals living with Dementia
- Contributing to the support of individuals with the use of electronic assistive technology
- Promoting positive approaches for behaviour support
Group B
- Supporting individuals with moving and positioning
- Supporting individuals to maintain mobility and minimise the risk of falls
- Support the use of medication in social care settings
- Support people with sensory loss
- Supporting food safety practice in health and social care settings
Level 3

- coordinating care and support for individuals living in their own homes

How will I be assessed?
To achieve the CORE element of the award you must pass:
3 externally set scenario based assessments and 1 externally set multiple choice test
To achieve the PRACTICE element of the award you will need to complete
A portfolio of your work which meets the required standard for the qualification
This will include planning 4 separate tasks with your assessor which will allow you to demonstrate how you work with the service users. These tasks must be observed by your assessor, following which you will be required to reflect on the observation
A professional discussion with your assessor about your learning experience and how you have met the requirements of the qualification.
